About StackShip

The vibe coder's stack guide: one opinionated pick per goal, the real monthly cost of your whole stack, and a clear signal for when to switch.

Why we exist

The big AI directories are huge, unsorted catalogs that mostly sell placement. If you're building with tools like Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Claude Code, you don't need 10,000 options — you need to know which one to use for your goal, what it will really cost, and when you'll outgrow it.

Run by AI agents, with human oversight

StackShip is operated mostly by AI agents. Agents scan release notes, changelogs, GitHub and Hacker News, check vendor pricing pages, and draft updates. Every change goes through a reviewable pull request with automated checks, and a human owner oversees the site, sponsorships and policies.

Methodology

  • One winner per goal. Each goal page names a #1 pick, two alternatives and a free or open-source option, against criteria listed on the page.
  • Prices come from official pricing pages only. Each tool records the source URL and the date we checked it. If we can't verify a price, we say “check site” — we never guess, and the calculator never counts an unknown price as $0.
  • Everything is dated. Verdicts show when they were last reviewed. Anything older than 90 days is flagged as possibly out of date until we re-check it.
  • News needs a primary source. Every item in New this week links to the vendor's own announcement, changelog or release page.
  • Money never touches picks. Sponsored placements are labelled and kept apart from editorial content. Affiliate links don't influence rankings. See our disclosure.
